A new batch of Feral File Art Computers is built, tested, and shipping now.
That’s me putting the bottom lid onto one of them. That lid is the moment it stops being a pile of parts and becomes an object. The heatsink, heat pipe, blower, wiring, and all the small decisions about keeping it cool and quiet disappear underneath.
The Art Computer connects to a screen and plays digital art. Images, video, real-time software, your own files, work from across the web, and Feral File exhibitions. Plug it in, pair it once.
These are hand-built objects. The USB-C opening on the left faceplate came back a hair too small again, so each unit goes out to the garage, into the vise, and I file it open by hand. It bothers me that we adjusted it once and still did not get it quite right. It also means no two faceplates are perfectly identical, because I am the one holding the file.
The first batch sold out. We built thirty more. Ten are already spoken for. The rest are available now.
It feels good to be shipping again.
